Fallout 4 and Skyrim Remastered: Bethesda Still Aiming For Some Kind of PS4 Mods Support on troveshop

Bethesda Softworks hasn’t exactly been weathering the best of storms recently, especially with the news that Fallout 4 wouldn’t be receiving mods on PS4 after all. As it turns out, this will also be the case for the upcoming The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition. And when you factor in news like Farming Simulator 17 being able to run mods, it all looks a little silly.

That being said, just because one game can run mods on PS4 doesn’t mean every single game is capable of the same. Bethesda VP of marketing and PR Pete Hines noted that with regards to Fallout 4 and Farming Simulator 17 being in the same boat, “Lots of things can follow under the umbrella of ‘mods’ but are very different technically and in scope/scale.”

He also said the functionality of mods for something like DOOM (or for that matter Farming Simulator 17) differs greatly from a game like Fallout 4 or Skyrim. “A number of games support user mods of some kind. Including DOOM. None do what Fallout 4/Skyrim does.”

As for the current situation with PS4 mods, Hines said, “We can’t get into specifics. We still want to get mod support of some kind out on PS4.”
